Commenced with Ulton in 1994, progressing through the firm to become Manager of the Audit division in 1999, and then Partner in August 2006.
David Buckley
Vice President
David is the Practice Adminstrator, Partner and a commercial property solicitor with Bell
Dixon Butler. After working in CBD Brisbane law firms where he began to develop his
interest in property and commercial law, he moved back to the Bay in 1999 to establish
a practice, a family and live within 2 streets of the beach. David’s substantial client
following now includes government bodies, major developers and business owners. He
is known for his lateral approach to legal problems and focus on applying his legal
knowledge to achieve the outcome required by the client.

Pam Gregory

Financial Controller/Senior Paralegal with 22 years of service with Corser Sheldon
& Gordon Solicitors. Pam has a keen interest in Property Development and assists
local and interstate clients with the development and management of their residential
and commercial projects in the Fraser Coast region.

Debbie Potts
Treasurer
Debbie is a Chartered Accountant and partner at local firm CLM Chartered Accountants.
She gained a Bachelor of Commerce through the local campus of USQ being it’s first
internal graduate and went on to complete a Graduate Diploma (ICAA) and Masters in
Applied Taxation. Debbie has a keen interest in all areas of taxation and how they
apply in the real world. Other areas of interest are travel, food/wine, other cultures and shoes.
Graham Young
Councilor
After over 25 years in the corporate world, including ten years running his own IT
consulting company, Graham decided to undertake a ‘sea change’ and in 2005 relocated
to Hervey Bay, subsequently obtaining a lecturing position at the University of
Southern Queensland’s Fraser Coast campus. Currently the Campus Coordinator for
the Faculty of Business, he lectures across a variety of topics in management and
marketing, and thoroughly enjoys the opportunity to blend his practical experiences
with academic theory to educate USQ’s students. His research focus is on strategic
and business planning within SMEs.
Cr. Gerard O'Connell

Gerard was born and raised on the Fraser Coast. A Councillor of the Fraser Coast Regional
Council. He has a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and a Bachelor of Theology. Gerard was
a Catholic Priest in a number of Queensland parishes and has also worked as a Manager/Director
in the education, hospitality, motor vehicle, hardware, retail and employment services sectors.
He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Australian Institute of Company
Directors. Gerard's community interests include sport (football, cricket, golf), health issues
and current affairs. He is a Committee or Board Member of a number of local groups or organisations
including, Hervey Bay Youthcare , Fraser Coast Housing Action Group, Brolga Theatre Board, Urban
Development Institute of Australia Fraser Coast and Relay for Life Committee.
Lawrie Beacham

Dodge® parts re-marketer in the southern hemisphere. With family Lawrie moved to Hervey
Bay in 1996 to establish this business and has been a member of this Chamber since then. Past
President Rotary Club of Hervey Bay Sunrise. Past ARA international delegate for Australia, New
Zealand and Pacific Rim. Active in various district portfolios for Rotary District 9570.
Member of MTAQ. Past President Auto Parts Recyclers Association of Australia.
Leigh Bennett

Leigh Bennett has tertiary qualifications in Arts, Business and Education. He has worked
extensively with government, corporations and small business and has a diverse career as
a former Local Government CEO and senior executive, educator, HR Manager and business
consultant. Currently, Leigh is the Principal of Enterprise Innovations a business consultancy
which works inside and outside businesses across planning, strategy, feasibilities studies,
financial planning and project management. He is a Director and co-founder of a newly
created umbrella consulting company called Regional Innovations Australia.
Leigh is also a Director with Sundermann Water Power, a start up company with revolutionary water turbine technology suitable for river and marine environments.

Founding Director of Bob’s Bridgestone Tyre Centres/TJM Fraser Coast located in Hervey
Bay & Maryborough. I have been in business for the past 22 years with my wife Narelle
and we have lived in Hervey Bay to raise our 3 children (Aimee, Rachael & Christopher)
and believe in the future of the Fraser Coast and would like to be able to contribute as
much as I can , to making the future even brighter for the residents and business alike on
our Fraser Coast.

corporate marketing and advertising. He has worked for various national and international companies
in Australia including Pepsi Cola, Ansett Australia, Hutchison’s Child Care Services and APN News and
Media. Daniel’s core strengths are in the areas of management, marketing and advertising and online strategies.
Katie Clayton

Katie brings to the table a broad range of experience from 5 star hotels in both Sydney and
the Gold Coast including food & beverage management through to accounts and finance administration.
Katie has also been successfully self employed since 2001 with a large and profitable Gold Coast
restaurant and bar, and currently works with her husband Clay in the operational management of their
dynamic hospitality company, Clayton Enterprises. They moved to the Fraser Coast in 2004, and now own
and operate five venues across the region. Katie holds a Diploma of Hospitality Management as well as a
variety of other industry qualifications and training achievements. She is a member of the Executive
Committee of the Maryborough Young Professionals and is also involved in various other committees,
business and community associations as well as a number of charity organisations.
